The first screening is fast approaching, so be sure to mark your calendars for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/702683296412456\/\">AMEER GOT HIS GUN on September 19th<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>Nominated for an Israeli Academy Award in 2012, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.der.org\/films\/ameer-got-his-gun.html\">AMEER GOT HIS GUN<\/a> tells the story of a young Arab-Israeli Muslim who volunteers to join the Israeli Defense Forces with the belief that his induction will lead to equality and a sense of belonging to the state he lives in, the state he wants to love. Drawing fire from Jewish and Palestinian societies, he sets out on a tough voyage to civic and self definition.<\/p>\n<p>Naomi Levari, the film\u2019s director, will be Skyping in from Israel for a Q&amp;A after the screening. The Q&amp;A will be moderated by Dr. Melinda Robbins, an Emerson professor with extensive international media experience. Join the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/702683296412456\/\">event on Facebook<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>Each screening will be held at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emerson.edu\/about-emerson\/campuses-facilities\/boston\/paramount-center\/bright-family-screening-room\">Emerson\u2019s Bright Family Screening Room<\/a> at 7pm. Admission is free and open to the public, so please spread the word to your friends, students, colleagues, and social media outlets!
